Chattelle Prospect Farm, Woodstock

Chattelle Family members on the farm

Protected by: Connecticut Farmland Trust
Year Protected: 2021
Acres: 13.3

Six siblings of the Chattelle family, led by Loretta Chattelle, generously donated a conservation easement on Prospect farm in honor of their late parents. Normand and Virginia Chattelle farmed the historic 13-acre farm for over 40 years.

Prospect Farm’s open hay fields with commanding views of the surrounding countryside have made it a target for development. The farm, well known for its pasture-raised heritage turkeys, is part of a growing cluster of protected farms in Woodstock. The farm is CFT’s sixty-second protected farm, the fifth farm protected in Windham County, and the second in Woodstock.
